Magic upon Magic: Journey

We decide to sneak Andrew on the train because he couldn't pay for his ticket now. You couldn't even buy a ticket. He waves his hand, making complicated moves. He vanishes from sight and carefully trails me with Elaina behind him. "Hurry up." A man says from behind her. She whispers me to hurry and I speed to my seat. Andrew took the seat next to Jackson. We dare not to remove Andrew's coat of invisibility. Why? A whole bunch of people don't want to see a person suddenly appear out of nowhere, and the conductor will kick us off of the train. Jackson and Andrew try to leave a forced silence as Elaina and me are able to talk as much as we want, but preferably, we read. The Illiad is very interesting. I manipulated the Mist to hide our demigod-like actions. I take out my pocket knife and cut up a fig newton for us to share. (4 pieces, not 3. Remember Andrew.) I put up my pocket knife and bit into my portion of the fig newton. Eh, blech. Not too delectable. I finish my newton quickly, suddenly feeling a bit full. I could tell the others didn't really like the newton either. Jackson looked like he was about to throw up. Elaina molded on a face of disgust. Andrew, I don't know. Elaina started drawing an owl. It was like that Justice type of owl. Then she turned onto the back and drew a full blown detailed picture of a snowy owl. "Shh." Jackson tells us. I shut up. I hear something. A hiss. Hissss. Hisssss. You will not escape from death. Never will you cheat death. Death will catch  you, Lo'Reena Hecate Ellen Smith. Never. Hissss. Hisss.

We froze at the sound. Jackson was the first to speak. "Uh, what was that?!" Everyone looked around as they shake their heads. "What does it mean?" I asked Elaina, and it sounded scary: I included MY name. Elaina mused over this again. "Shut up!" Andrew suddenly yelled. "The bane of magic is coming close. Children of Hecate are worthless. Hecate will be helpless. Nobody can help. No one can see. The Mist is gone, magic is gone. Gods will be helpless also. Nothing, nothing will ever be the same."  Apparently, this person or whatever wasn't a very good rhymer. Again, I asked Elaina, "What does it mean?" Elaina mused over this a while. Everyone looked scared. Andrew's form flicker edge, becoming visible again. He carelessly waved his hands again. Wait a minute. That hand movement looked familiar, the carelessness, his was raspy voice. I gapped at Andrew. I bet he brought me to Camp Half-Blood! I look at the invisible seat holding Amdrew and furrow my eyebrows. I look out the window, seeing a herd of centaurs running with us. Wait a minute... What was that?! It was white, thin, and it was coming straight towards the window! "Elaina, quick! Open the window!" Elaina unfastened the window. I leaned over and caught the object. It was a piece of paper! "Papyrus, I think." Elaina said, examining the paper, I mean papyrus. Jackson leans over. "Open it up!" Taking his advice, I slowly unroll the papyrus. "' Vidi in posterum avebas, puer, ad adjuvandum ne puella nomine venenum Allison magia electus. Vade ergo in castra Jupiter. Dux diu stare non dimittet vos.
Festina. Hecate'" I quickly translate. "'Ihave looked into your quest future, child, and a girl named Allison has been chosen to help prevent the bane of magic. Hurry to Camp Jupiter. The leader won't let you stay for long. Hurry. Hecate' Wow. What pressure it will put into this quest. Plus, we need a place to stop and sleep." We all looked around. "Ooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." Jackson said, stretching out the word. He glanced a look around and sped off. What has he gone to now? He didn't return for 20 minutes. We waited. And waited. Andrew was falling asleep. I heard a small "I'm awake!" We giggled. Elaina played with my hair again. Fishtail hairstyle this time. Oh, that's good. "How do you know all these hairstyles and how are you so good at them?" I question Elaina. "Easy. My sister taught me. She's a hair salonist, so she taught me different hairstyles. She's 20 now. I'm 7 years younger than her. 13." I observe her, finally noticing her height. She was tall. Like, 2 inches taller than me. "Wow. You're good." Elaina chuckled. "Nah, my sister's better. She can do a fishtail like that in 30 seconds." I raise my eyebrows in surprise. "So is that why your hair is always in a different hairstyle? I noticed when I came into your cabin that a lot of girl's hair were kept down and were a bit, well," I hesitate on what I was going to say next. "-messy?" Elaina finishes, laughing. "Yeah, they're obsessed with their project right now. Me? I'm neutral. I just do my own thing. Everyone wakes up at literally 4:00 in the morning and sleeps at 9:00, but some try to sneak a few extra minutes inside." I laugh with Elaina. "You don't really seem like an Athena kid. You're smart, but you aren't really those kids who are like 'Oh! Oh! Teacher! It's 2.7564318!!'" Jackson comes back. "What in Di Immortales sake were you?!" Elaina shouts at him. "Jeez, I was taking some food." He held up a bag and took out some Ceaser salads. "Dig in." He invited. Slowly, I poured the dressing over and ate. Mm, that's  good. WAY better than those fig newtons that we had earlier. I save some of my salad and store it along with my McNuggets. As we wolfed down the food, the train conductor announced, "We are going to have lights out." The lights went out. Why are they doing this? I looked out the window. That's why! It was dark out. I closed my eyes as the train moved along. Not a very easy-to-sleep kind of nights. "Lo'Reena, go to sleep." Elaina muttered. My polecat climbed out of nowhere, scampered up the right side of my body and took a spot on my shoulder. I was wondering where it went? Oh, no pets allowed, so PC hid in my backpack. She stretched out and folded herself back in again. She yawned and fell asleep.  I listened to Jackson's snores. So loud, yet so, so, I don't know,  peaceful? I don't know. I listen to him for a couple of more moments. I yawn and rub my eyes. The train tracks clitter and clatter. I fall asleep, dropping my heavy eyelids.

Oh. I feel really tired. "What is she doing here?" A familiar voice asks me. "Dear Lou Ellen, I invited her. " I open my eyes, seeing Lou Ellen and my mother. I stand up. "Why am I here?" Hecate just merely smiles as her torches illuminates Lou Ellen's and my face. My curly hair is suddenly straight. What? I wonder. What's happening? I wonder. Hecate chuckled. Weird. That was a first. Goddess chuckle. "You are becoming Lou. You are going to see Lou's side of the quest." I continue transforming. The hair stays the same. My features start morphing. Weird. Lou stares at me in shock as I finish my transformation. "Who- what?" Lou asks to no one in particular, spinning around, then looking at herself, then me, then herself. This time I chuckle. It was like the Polyjuice potion, but different. "Come." Hecate beckons to me. I hold her hand, the real Lou taking the other. Swirls surround me. A large opening emerges, and we go through it. "Where are we?" I ask my mother. Lou faces me. "No idea, little sis." We laugh. "This is not a laughing matter." Hecate says sternly, and we shut up. I released my grip and explored a little. Lou muses. Hecate simply stands there, as if waiting for our answer. A number 20, cabin: Hecate cabin. I take my exploring a little farther: I open the door. Wait a moment. This is Lou's actions or something. Nothing. I go out the door. "Camp Half-Blood." I mutter as Hecate nods. "But look around, dear children, for something is different." Her form flickers. Oh, that's scary. It flickers back: Dark black hair, blue eyes, white chiton. Much better. "Wait, why am I like, as Lou?" I ask Hecate. "You are visible, yet the real Lou is not. If you were to be your own self, everyone would think you came back." I nod. The next thing I see is horrible.

"What is that?!" I wonder out loud. Hecate grimaces and Lou winces. The Athena cabin, seeming to have a large bomb had exploded on top. "The boundaries are flickering and failing to protect Camp Half-Blood. As you can see, a creature or, something hurt Athena's cabin." Hecate mutters under her breath, "And I'm sure she will be raging about that." Lou just looks at the pratically destroyed cabin in dispair. I need to tell Elaina. I need to tell Elaina. Athena kids were either emerging form the wreckage or looking at their cabin in shock and sadness. Chiron trots along. "Oh no." He muttered. Athena kids were desparately trying to rebuild their cabin, Chiron trying to help. I couldn't bear it anymore. I forced myself to wake up.

"Oh gods." I mutter as I wake up. Note to self: Never force myself to wake up. It hurts. Trust me. It does. Elaina is already awake, reading. (As usual!) Jackson.. Snoring away. Andrew? I look at his seat. "I'm awake." He tells us. Everyone else is still asleep minus my PC. "Breakfast?" Elaina offers me. The snack cart went by. She holds up some breakfast sandwiches. I take one and polish it off. Eh. Tastes okay. I look out the window as Jackson snores away. Suddenly remembering Elaina waking Jackson up the first time, I ask her, "What was the Golden Mango trick?"  Elaina laughs. "The Stoll brothers made it up. They got a mango and spray painted it gold, then they wrote on there, 'For the hottest,' and hid it in the Aphrodite cabin while they were at archery class. They waited until they came back and found out about it and started fighting. I was watching as I was doing patrol and checking to see how clean the cabins were. Obviously, they got no stars. Makeup was everywhere. Eh, they eventually found out the prank and cursed them." We burst into laughing. I look over at Jackson. He isn't there. "Jackson, where have you gotten to, you little," I look around. "Gotcha!" Jackson yells, popping up from behind Elaina and snatching up her book, quick as lightning. "Give that back!" Elaina fights for it, Jackson dangling it over her head. She eventually waits as Jackosn starts to get bored and drops the book. "Sh, sssshhhhhhh....." Andrew whispers. The train had stopped.
