Magic upon Magic: Lamia
"What? Why is the train stopping?" I ask to no one in particular, hoisting myself up the seat. I look over. "Oh no." Elaina mutters, looking over. Movements from Andrew's seat. PC hides in my backpack again. Jackson is snoring. "Hem, hem, JACKSON! WAKE UP OR ELSE YOU'LL GET KILLED!" I yell to him. "Awwww." He mutters but wakes up. Slowly. "Lamia." Elaina says to me. "Why is she here?" She wonders out loud. She hisses at a random passenger. Yikes. Wrong person: It's a little girl. She screams and starts crying. Lamia hisses again, making her cry harder. More people stream into our compartment, checking out the commotion. I take out my sword. Shing. Bad mistake. Lamia stops, freezes, and sniffs the air. "Demigods." She says. "What and who the heck are those?!" A man says, and Lamia slashes at him. He barely misses him. I cap my sword quietly, but keep it out, just in case Lamia attacks and all that. Lamia continues sniffing, slowly coming towards us. I think, Please make my friends invisible to protect us from Lamia. I wave my hand and everyone disappears. I make our supplies invisible and mutter for PC to come up. I make her invisible as she rests on my shoulder, alert and ready. "Ah..." Lamia says as she descends closer to us. "I absolutely yearn for demigods! Hm Hm Hm Hm Hm! What do we have here!" She looks around at our row. "Come out come out wherever you are!" She sings. She has a bad singing voice. Way too raspy. She stomps. "Ugh! I know you're there!" I whisper to Elaina to scoot as close as she can to the window. She quietly scoots. I silently move over and slide my supplies over. "Ah ha!" Lamia shouts, clearly triumphant. "I found you!" I whisper to Elaina. "Come on, come on, come on." I pray that I won't get caught by Lamia, Hecate's daughter. I can't really believe that I'm her like, half sister or something. WE ARE NOT THE SAME. Lou, I totally understand. She lashes out towards Jackson. He yells in pain as she releases her, uh, hand from him. The next thing I make is a mistake.
"Jackson!" I yell, making a desperate grab towards him. Lamia swishes around. Ow. That hurt. Bad. She waves her hand, making us visible. Oh no. I can see my curls. My Camp Half-Blood shirt. My jeans. PC, and my sword pointing straight at her. Jackson becomes visible, standing up with his sword out. Andrew has a magic staff and Elaina has the same thing as Jackson and me. Swords are pretty popular around here… Lamia couldn't decide who to take down first, so she just lashed out through the middle. I deflected one of her moves with my sword. Andrew pushes his staff on the floor and Lamia stumbles, but quickly regaining her balance saying, "You and your silly staff will never defeat me!" Lamia yelled. Taking that distraction, Jackson forced his sword through Lamia's chest. She screamed a horrible scream as blood trickled out. I stabbed her in the back as Elaina stabbed with me. She screamed even louder. She tried getting for me. She lashed my left arm. Ow. It hurts. Lamia became tired. She couldn't do much. Her screaming and our stabs were too much for her. "You might've defeated me this time, cowardly demigods, but you will never defeat me twice!" Lamia shouts, exploding into dust. I guess she was weaker by the time she came to us. Elaina gave me a small amount of nectar to drink. I drank it up. Mm. They tasted like my dad's homemade mint chocolate chip ice cream. When I was little, we used to make ice cream together and mint chocolate chip was my dad's specialty, along with my favorite flavor. My cut instantly felt better. Less painful, at least, still painful though. I tried to remember the memories. The train started again. "We were lucky that Lamia didn't give us too much damage." Elaina said to us. Everyone had gone back to their compartments. Elaina suddenly brought out a full blown hair and makeup kit. "Don't worry. I won't use the makeup one." She assured me, answering my face. She got a hair straightener and plugged it in. "How did you-?!" I asked, but she tipped the box, revealing a small plug attached. "It's magic." She said. She sprayed something on my hair, felt the straightener, and began. She divided my thick hair into sections and started straightening my hair. The straightener felt hot. Elaina expertly straightened my hair, working her way to the top. After a while, she finished. I touched my hair. It felt straight as a blade of grass. "Ah ah ah. We're not done yet." Elaina says, stopping me. Sighing, I let her continue. She takes my hair, twisting, turning, spraying. I feel like a science experiment. "Done." Elaina says, sagging but satisfied. She hands me a mirror. "Wow." I say. My hair is straightened, then she twisted it in an elaborate French braid, then turned it into a neat bun. "I would dye your hair, not permantly, but I based it off of Elsa. You know, from Frozen. I saw that your eyes, they change color. Change them to blue and try changing the hair to blond, you can put it back again once you're done." I concentrate hard, thinking of blue eyes and Elsa's hair color. Pop! Elaina hands me the mirror back again. I see myself, icy blue eyes with white blond bun. "Let it go!" I sing as I let my hair go. Elaina giggles. She ties it back up again. "Now I need the costume and I'll be Elsa." I say. "I need an Aphrodite kid and you." Elaina and I laugh. Jackson looks over from sharpening his extra dagger. "What's goi- Whoa, Lo'Reena, what happened?!" Jackson exclaimed. Andrew looked over. "Whoa. What happened?" I laugh. "Well, Elaina likes to play with my hair, so she brought along a hair and makeup kit. She straightened my hair and twisted it into a French braid, then she turned it into a bun." I spun around, revealing the bun. "What about your hair? And eyes? It's usually green." I laughed once more. "It's all in the magic." I say, winking at Andrew. He thinks hard, and his black hair changes to flaming red. "Dude, you look soooo had in that color!" Jackson comments. He scrunched up his face and it turns back to black. He slips on his aviator glasses and turns away, looking out the window. Elaina cleans up as I question her. "Should I change my hair and all that again?" Elaina shakes her head. "What about when I go to sleep? I'll have to take it apart." Elaina looks at me. "I used a special type of hair spray and all that. It will let itself go when you sleep, but when you wake up again, it will feel like it was there all the time. It'll morph back to that Elsa bun and braid." I nod, touching my beautiful hair. "I'm hungry." I say to Jackson, who had continued to sharpen his dagger. "I'll be back." He rushes up to the next compartment. I help Elaina clean up. I rolled her straightener up and stored it inside the kit. Not able to resist, I peeked inside. Wow. Hair ties were at one section, bows, headbands, and hair accessories in another, the curler and straightener in a long section, and the makeup was on the other side of the kit. Elaina shut the kit and stuffed it into her backpack. "That," I say to her, amazed, "Is one cool kit. I bet all the Aphrodite kids have that." She smiled. " Nah, my sister gave it to me as a gift." I stared at her, stunned and amazed. " Don't look like that." Elaina said, pushing me away. " You will creep me out." She and I chortle at the thought. Jackson had returned. He passed us a to-go bowl of macaroni and cheese. I polish it off. Blech. Tastes HORRIBLE. The cheese, there's too little, the macaroni, it's kind of too wet. " Where did you GET this?!" I ask Jackson, who was stuffing his face with his meal. He shrugs. "I think I got it from some old lady. Obviously, she's not your type." Andrew chuckles at that. He became visible and is wearing blond hair. Eh, he looks okay. " Not bad." I comment to him. He smiles and continues eating the disgusting food, choking each time. Elaina is trying to hold her breath as she eats a bite. If you're wondering or thinking, It's THAT horrible?! It is. You don't want to know. I sit there, staring out the window, wondering what will happen next.
