Gone, forever: Crystal
June 4th
Dear Diary,
"You're not kidding, right Summer?" I ask cautiously. Summer put her hands on her hips. "You're not going to chicken out right?" I look at her. "N-No. I'm just not sure if we have the right materials." Autumn turned. "Dinner's coming. We could sneak food there. Backpacks to store. Collect some stuff around here and on what we already have." Ring ring ring ring ring!!!!!!!!!! "Dinner." Quiet Violet announces. We file out to the cafeteria. The food is okay okay here, and we sneak some stuff there. "What are you doing?" A girl named Mckenzie asked. She is one of those popular people, and her parents didn't have time for her, so they left her here. She's mad at them, but she now acts highty mighty so that people won't know what she feels like inside. I just overheard. "We are just very hungry, so we want to eat a lot." I sniff. Mckenzie rolls her eyes and shay shays away. I hate when she does that. I tug my white blond hair and continue eating. Summer gazes at me, her long sheet of orange sunshine hiding her eyes, but I see them staring through me. "We're in this TOGETHER." I say. Summer nods and swerves away. "I think we have enough food." Autumn notes, pointing to our satchels. We all agree. Quickly, we head towards the dormitories to prepare. We drop our satchels and quickly pack clothes, water, food, all that. We being maps and money. "Done." I say. The group nods. Bold Summer steps up. "So, I was thinking. At night…" I listened intently so that I wouldn't flub this. "Got it? Good." Summer whispers. "Now we sit. And wait." Autumn announces. Girls pass us by and stumble to bed, but not us. I lay in bed, listening to the sounds to the deep breaths of my other classmates. I turn to my left, where Autumn's gold eyes brighten the place. Right: My second best friend (I know, I have more than one best friend, which is Autumn.) Liana. I continue laying when suddenly, Summer sends the signal, which is a soft whistle, and we jump up. Shy Violet goes ahead for patrol. "Good." She sends through the walkie talkie. Autumn turns ahead and opens the door. Violet, Summer, and I trail out and Autumn silently closes the door. The night wind pushes through my white blond hair. "Ah." Violet says. "Calm winds blowing through the air." Summer comes out. "C’mon. We don't have much time." We set off for our long awaiting journey.

The Art and Aspirations of a Commenter
I believe in the power of a free exchange of ideas. I also recognize that words or access to
some information can be of harm to others, intentionally or unintentionally. As a
commenter, I therefore aspire to participate responsibly in the great online conversation
by:
* treating all bloggers with respect.
* seeking first to understand what is being said.
* celebrating another's accomplishments.
* using school appropriate language.
* rephrasing ideas in the blog that made me think, made me feel, or helped me learn
to let the blogger know his/her voice has been heard.
* commenting specifically and positively, without criticism. If I disagree, I will
comment appropriately, politely stating my perspective.
* being mindful always that I may be a role model to my audience, especially if they
are younger than I.
* making no reference to, link to, and/or giving access to any information that may
be inappropriate for a school setting.
* asking at least one question in my comment with the hopes of continuing a
conversation and deepening thinking.
* using a triple check before submitting any comment: Would I be happy to have my
mother read this comment? My grandmother? My favorite teacher?
