Academy of Powers: Chapter 2

I slowly looked at the door behind me. Except there was no door. It was a pure gold locker. As I was wondering where the door went, something slapped me on the back. I looked behind me. A girl about the same height as me, with brown hair tied up in a yellow bandanna. Her eyes were electric blue, and her shirt, pants, and shoes were all either yellow or white. She had way too tan skin. I guess you could call it an overtan. She inspected me. "New student? Yeah, you are. I'm Electra, one of the many electric students. Don't listen to what Sir says about us. The war kids are the feisty ones. Want me to show you around?" I was a bit shocked, mind you. In the literal way. When she touched me, she had really sharp static electricity. "Uh, sure?" She smiled. "Okay then. Come on."

She led me to an array 5 doors. They were each 45 feet apart. The first door was yellow, the second blue, the third brown, the fourth red, and the fifth grey. She waved her hand over them. "These are in order to the way Sir says to new students. Electric, air, arachnid, war, fog." The she led me to doors that were a bit bigger than the first ones. "These are the the uncommon. Glass, sand, blood, plants, and seeing." The first door was one way glass, from the inside. The second was hardened sand. The third was... frozen blood... it was disgusting. I was not choosing blood. The fourth was actually quite beautiful. It was a door made of light-brown polished wood. There was vines that were every color of the rainbow and more. Purple, pink, and pearl-white flowers dotted each vine here and there. My guess it was the plant door. The fifth was the weirdest door I had ever seen. It was different colors of glass, but I couldn't see through them. And the weirdest- there was a giant eye in the middle, staring straight at me. Electra pulled me away. "If you stare at it for more than 2 minutes, it enchants you and freezes you in place. Don't go near it." Then she led me to a set of four doors. "Here are water, earth, fire, and animals." The first was all ice, and there was a circular transparent pipe in the center. Turquoise water flowed around it slowly. Things were frozen into the ice, encased forever. The second was igneous volcanic rock. There were cracks where there was still magma. In the center there was a square box of glass where fire was raging, trying to burn its way out of the glass. She laughed. "I wouldn't touch that door if I were you." The third was brown rock that had large cracks. In the center there was a triangular box of glass. It had a glowing purple rock inside. Electra pulled me away. "Bad idea to get close to that, unless you're an earth kid. That's the blaze meteor. It can make you faint, lose hearing temporarily, or... go into coma." The fourth was whale bone. It had feathers and animal teeth running around the edges. In the center was a glass sphere. It had... lizards in it. There was a purple, blue, and green lizard inside. They were all looking at me with big black eyes, and I was tempted to say, "Awwww," but I didn't. Then she took a deep breath. She motioned for me to follow, and she slowly walked to three gigantic palace-sized doors, at the dead and of the hallway. On the right wall there was a big pearl door that looked like actual pearl, diamond, and silver. On the left there was a there was a big obsidian door that looked like actual obsidian, black diamond, and gold. And right in the middle- a door big as both of the doors combined. It was a door made of purely Tanzanite. [[Author's Note: To the many of you who don't know what Tanzanite is, it is the most rare and valuable gemstone in the world, 20 times rarer than a diamond. They go 100,000$ a Karat.]] A diamond lion's head was on each door. Electra too was staring. She pointed to the obsidian door. "D-death." Then she pointed to the pearl. "L-life." Then she pointed to the center one. She could barely say it. "R-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-resurrect-r-resurrection." I nodded, still staring at the door of resurrection. We were still staring, when we hear a voice. "What are you guys doing in this area?" It was not a very nice voice. I turned around and saw a boy with black hair. He had gold eyes, extremely pale skin, and black nail polish. He had a black shirt and leather jacket that was studded with black rhinestones. He wore black boot-cut jeans and black boots. He was wearing black stuff. A black snake was curled around his arm. "Um, no offense... i'm new here, who are you, and why are you so black?" The boy gave me an evil glare. I noticed he had a skull necklace. "I'm Sephtis. Newbie, who are you, and what are you doing in my corridor?" I didn't get it. "Who are you to talk? This isn't your corridor. Or door. I doubt you even have the power of half of the kids!" He cracked his knuckles. "You know the death kid Sir talks about? That's me." He looked down at me, and his fist was surrounded with black fire. He held it up, about to shoot one nasty fire ball at me, when- "Sephtis! What are you doing? Don't kill him. That's so prohibited." Sephtis put his fist down and the fire died out. His pale skin turned scarlet. "Eve! I thought were you, I mean, you were out in classes?" I turned around and saw a girl that was more beautiful than everything pretty on earth combined. She had silvery green eyes, golden hair that went to her waist, a white dress that went to her ankles, white flats, a necklace that had a yin yang charm, tan skin, blood-red lips, light pink flowery blush, and a white... sword? A beautiful white sword way by her side, and angel wings sprouted from the pearly blade. "And so if my body is in classes my soul and spirit are too? Incorrect. As the bringer of peace and purity, I say that just if you are aware of my being somewhere else, does not mean you will be one of impurity." I had no idea what she had just said, but Sephtis understood. "Of course. It will not happen again..... with him." She didn't hear the last part and said, "Good. I expect greatness." I bent over to Electra. "Who's that? The Vice Principal?" Electra whispered back to me, "Nah. There's no Vice. Only the mad hat- er, I mean, Sir. That's Eve Adara. She's really, really, really, super powerful. She's the only girl in the Life dormitory. The only person." As Sephtis walked away, Eve walked over to us. "Don't think i'm blaming you in the sense of manner I am saying this, but although Sephtis should not have acted as he did, he was truly correct. People should not be wandering the halls of Academy. I will not tell, but I shall tell someone was to be walking." She walked away, her hair trailing behind her. I almost sighed. Electra grunted. "Her name literally means 'Innocent Angel of Purity and Beauty. Her full name, at least. Eve Aspen Adara." Electra tied her hair back up. The bandanna had fallen to the floor in a crumple of ashes when Sephtis had approached, but reformed as he walked away. "He has a very powerful aura, as you can see. When he's mad it flares like crazy. He's confined into his dormitory when that happens. One kid got too close and nearly died. We saved him when Eve came. She hates Sephtis more than she hates... um, death...., but deals with him. It's harder to do that when she knows Sephtis approves of her. By approve I mean she's not one of the kids he stomps under his feet. And your choosing ceremony, can you... join Electricity? Please? It would be awesome of you. See ya. I need to get to Teleportation classes. Meet me after school by the Electric door." I nodded, and she walked away.

I looked at the Resurrection door, stroked one of the silver lions, and polished the diamond door handle. I was curious. I moved my hands over the door, feeling the cold Tanzanite against my skin. Then I felt bumps. I looked where my hands were and words were scraped into the gem. They said:
He who enters will pay ultimate and deathly price. Beware the curse that comes with the deathly mark of resurrection. For he who yields power must also yield ancient and dark evil.
I was scared yeah, but curious. I read it one more time and grabbed the handle. As I pulled with all my strength, the door squeaked open. I walked inside, and closed the door behind me.
