"Outstanding Melissa! Keep it up!" Coach Lisa cheered. Melissa Nametogan did a triple-backflip dismmount, the perfect ending to a show! She saw her friend, Mayzie Richmond, on the beam. Melissa was in the Blizzard level, Mayzie was in the Volcano level, two levels below Melissa. Melissa moved onto floor and did all the super-difficult moves that she could think of. The kids from lower levels watched in amazment. They had never seen someone so good! "Wow Melissa, you're so good and cool," Mayzie said before walking off to join her group. Melissa ignored Mayzie and went to the foam pit. "You sure that's a good idea?" Coach Lisa asked.
"Of course I'm sure. I'm the best gymnast in the gymnasium!" Melissa said, getting ready to jump. Hands in a triangle, feet pointed, straight legs, arched back, Melissa thought as she got in position. Coach Lisa stood on the mat that was used for tumbling and foam pit exits, looking concerned. Melissa inhaled and exhaled deeply, opened her eyes, and leaped. She landed feet-first into the big pit of foam squares, while Coach Lisa went to get the first-aid kit in case Melissa was hurt. Melissa came tumbling out in pain, just as Mayzie was cartwheeling over and Coach Lisa was coming with the kit. "Are you ok?" Mayzie asked. Melissa was too hurt to answer. Coach Lisa pulled up her x-ray app so she could examine Melissa's ankle. "What just happened?" Melissa asked. Mayzie shruged. Will Melissa be ok? Will she be able to compete?
I can tell you know quite a bit about gymnastics. The old saying, "write what you know", really helps your readers to see the story!
